Who We Are

People's Action for Rural Advancement and Sustainability (PARAS) Foundation is a social development organization that is currently dedicated to making a difference in underdeveloped regions of northern states of India, with a particular focus on Uttar Pradesh. Established in 2001 by a group of dedicated Gandhian social activists under the visionary leadership of Paras Bhai, a prominent and committed Gandhian activist, PARAS Foundation embodies the Gandhian philosophy of rural reconstruction and nation-building, with a core emphasis on the actions of the people.

Formally registered in 2005 as a not-for-profit entity under the Societies Registration Act XXI, 1860, PARAS Foundation aims to bring about positive and sustainable change in the lives of communities grappling with extreme poverty and profound inequality. Over the past two decades, the organization has directly impacted over 1.1 million households through a range of program interventions.

Our mission is to uplift marginalized communities by implementing various initiatives that address their most pressing needs. By meticulously designing and implementing projects in collaboration with local communities, we strive to empower individuals, enhance livelihood opportunities, improve access to education and healthcare, promote gender equality, and foster environmental sustainability.

At PARAS Foundation, we firmly believe in the power of collective action and the transformative potential of community-led development. By prioritizing the voices and aspirations of the people we serve, we endeavor to create a more equitable and just society. Together, we can build a future where every individual, regardless of their socio-economic background, has the opportunity to thrive and lead a dignified life.
